Emirates Says Mulling Low Cost Airline

DUBAI,(Reuters) – Emirates, the largest Arab airline, is “thinking a bit” about starting a budget airline in the coming few years, the state-owned firm’s vice chairman said on Tuesday.

“We are thinking a bit about it,” said Maurice Flanagan.

“It’s something for the next few years. The (Airbus) A380 could be a very good aircraft for that,” he said without elaboration.

Emirates is a biggest client for the A380 with 43 aircraft on order. The airline said earlier on Thursday it was in talks for more A380s.
