Iraq’s Supreme Court Ratifies Election Results

BAGHDAD, (AP) – Iraq’s Supreme Court has ratified the results of the nation’s March 7 parliamentary election, officially declaring the secular Iraqiya alliance the vote’s biggest winner.

The televised ruling Tuesday marks the first major step toward resolving Iraq’s election crisis and seating a new parliament.

But the government impasse remains far from over, as it could take weeks if not months more for lawmakers to choose new leaders.
