Riyadh, Asharq Al-Awsat- The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz will undergo new back surgery in Riyadh in the next few days, according to a statement from the kingdom’s royal court.
The statement said that the king under the advice of his doctors will undergo surgery to alleviate lower back pain. During a regular check-up, tests indicated a slackening of the binding connector around the King’s third vertebrae. Doctors have determined that it is necessary to conduct surgery in order to re-tighten the connector. The operation will take place in Riyadh sometime during the next few days.
King Abdullah flew to New York last November and was operated on for a debilitating herniated disc complicated by a haematoma that put pressure on his spine.
That surgery was declared a success, as was a second operation to repair several vertebrae.
